What does Protect do?
The Protect function protects your system from known malicious ActiveX controls. ActiveX is a set of technologies from Microsoft that enhances interactive Web content. It enables portable modules and makes it possible for a browser to interact with desktop applications, typically to provide additional user interface functions. Spyware is frequently downloaded through an ActiveX control. although not all ActiveX controls are malicious. A helpful ActiveX control could implement a fun or useful application. A malicious ActiveX control could completely ruin your machine, stealing or deleting files, or installing spyware to capture your sensitive data. MAXpc identifies all of the ActiveX controls currently installed on your computer and allows you to protect/unprotect your machine from them.
