How do I create a backup?

There are two kinds of backups; registry backups and system backups. Back up your registry in cases where you want to save registry information for later use. If you happen to re-install your Windows OS, this tool will help you tune your registry and leave all programs and other vital settings functional. Use the system backup when you want to perform a rollback to the previous state of your Windows operating system. For example, you may want to create restore points before doing any major changes to your registry. Restore points can then be used to reproduce the previous state of your Windows OS.

To back up your registry:
  1. Click the MAXpc icon on your desktop.
  2. From the navigation bar on the left side of the user interface, click Backup.
  3. Choose a folder to which you want your backup saved. By default, the system creates a folder called C:\MyBackup. If this is the first time you are making a registry backup, the system will prompt you to use this folder.
  4. Assign a name to the backup. This should be a name that will indicate the date and nature of the backup. For example: regbackup_23march08.
  5. Click Start Backup. MAXpc will do the rest.
